Ultraphallus. Aprenda inglés (del bueno) con Harlem

"Is that Ultraphallus is a strange name? Not sure"

We are Ultraphallus, belgian rock band, and we are staring at home, like fucking nerds! Pete Shelley? Buzzcocks? (Strange name for a band!!!) Is that Ultraphallus is a strange name? Not sure. We are: Ivan, an australo-spanish carnivorous companiero, he plays bass! Rulian, a lazy smokedoper, the Ultra Ringo, and a 'nervous breakdown' killer drum-beater! January Dubois, the big-glasses vegatarian, banjo guitarist ! And, me, Phil M, headstrong pale rider, and Ultraphallus singer!

Main influences: distortion of minds, medication, love and its great bitterness, cities and bad atmosphere, Harvey Keitel, Joe Jackson (Michael's father), jewish music, history of rock n' roll, loss of teeth, Marc Bolan, David Bowie, pornography, River Phoenix, Gus Van Sant, Mark Twain, T.W. Vollmann, The Residents, Gyuto Monks, Merle Haggard, poetry, Henri Barbusse, Merzbow, Violent Onsen Geisha, The Brothers Four, Nihilism...
(The) Melvins, of course... we love that! Cause it's the most important rock band of two last decades... They are so important for us, during the starting of the band! Now, we have our sound and our real own History! And, trust me, we just do what we can do!

Of course, no! There are just some underground places for this kind of music, and big places for big bands! But there's a lot of pop music in Belgium, kind of trend in our country! And this is absolutely not a good pop-music, really! Just the worst you could hear in all radios! There's a lot of different styles of music, but not so much places for them! There's no real good connection between these 'frontiers'

Que contéis algo de vuestro último disco, The clever.
The clever is our second album, it's a good, pure, heavy and easy rock disc, with cleverness in structures of composition. I think every fan of good heavy-rock must to have this album, because there's such good elements in this album for everyone. It's a nervous opus, but very luminar and sarcastic, in a few moments! Sometimes like a good movie! It sounds like the soundtrack of a story of a man with his hurts, his failures, and his devotion to struggle with his own 'Ego', his own 'I'. You could find the album on www.conspiracyrecords.com, or freebirds.com, and we sell our cd's ourselves after the gigs.
