The Dictators. Aprenda inglés (del bueno) con Harlem

"The real reason we are doing this tour is because if John McCain becomes President of the US we might need a new country to live in"

"Baby let's twist", "Haircut and acttitude" y "How will save rock & roll" vuelven a sonar en los escenarios españoles. The Dictators apuran sus últimas horas en la Península, y no pueden evitar toparse con el incansable OSCAR CUBILLO. Esto cuenta Andy Shernoff, "The Christopher Columbus of punk rock". Cachondo.

Why did you re-created the band for the first time, ten year ago or so?
The band has been around for 35 years. We operate on our own schedule and terms. Our history is marked by years playing many shows followed by stretches where we recharge our batteries, pursue other musical projects and enjoy life . Some of our friends in Spain may be under the impression that we re-created the band 10 years ago because our first Spanish tour was in 1995, but this is how we have always operated.

And why have you rejoin the forces for this time? Is it true that this is your last tour?
We want to embarrass the pretenders and remind people what authentic R&R sounds like. Spain carries the torch for real rock and roll and deserves the best.
Now it's true that we haven't toured in the past 5 years but we have performed at important shows in NYC like the Underground Garage Festival in 2003, the final weekend of CBGB's in 2006 and the Joey Ramone Birthday bash earlier this year.
OK…I have a confession. The real reason I am doing this tour is because if John McCain becomes President of the US I might need a new country to live in. Anybody know of a good apartment for rent?

Any words about your lyrics.
I believe that you like a band for the music but fall in love with a band for the lyrics. I think what distinguishes ourselves from other bands are my lyrics. Our music didn't change the face of music like The Ramones but when we released our first album in 1975 nobody was singing about teenage life with our irreverent attitude... Now it is common.

How are gonna be your concerts in Spain?
La fiesta empieza ahora!! Everybody gets drunk, jumps up and down, sing along with the band, throw their fists in the air, leave exhausted and fulfilled until they relive the concert with their friends the next day!!!

What do you like about the people and the country of Spain?
Albarino, La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva '904' 1995, Descendientes de Jose Palacios Corullon Bierzo 2001, L'Ermita 1998, Idiazabal, cordero asado, jamón ibérico, percebes, boquerones, paella Valenciana, Malasaña and Penelope Cruz.
