Siguiendo con el enorme éxito de su álbum homónimo de debut de 2007 (la revista inglesa Q Magazine lo incluyó en su Top 5 de discos de raíces del año), Alan Tyler & The Lost Sons Of Littlefield vuelven a la carga con Lonesome Cowboys, una nueva colección de clásicos instantáneos de alt-country con decidido toque inglés.

No era necesario que emigrasen a Nashville para grabar su nuevo disco, lo han hecho en los estudios que su bajista Chris Clarke tiene en el Norte de Londres, Reservoir Studios. Y lo han hecho a su estilo, de forma sencilla e invitando a amigos como Hannah Elton-Wall, de Redlands Palomino Company, para voces de acompañamiento, Tim Kent al banjo y David Barbenel al cello. El ex compañero de Tyler y Clarke en los Rockingbirds Sean Read (colaborador habitual de Beth Orton o Edwyn Collins) también participa añadiendo voces, teclados y su clásica ya pandereta.

El resultado es un disco de una gran variedad. El sentimiento más roots en "Something You Haven't Told Me", remarcada por los dulces sonidos del violín de Jim Morrison, y "The Man That I Am", con el banjo sutituyendo al fiddle. El más tradicional estilo country del héroe de Tyler, Waylon Jennings, aparece en cortes como "Rambling Girl", "Cowboys Don't Cry" y en una sorprendente versión del "I'm A Gambler" de Pete Dello (Honeybus). El más moderno alt-country se escucha en "Time To Pay" y "Feel Better". "When You Get Back From New York City" es un excursión marcada por una trepidante mandolina y, finalmente, "O'er The Hill And Far Away", luce guitarras psych y el distintivo sabor Costa Oeste Californiana de bandas como The Flying Burrito Brothers.

It's just very "happening", I think. Alan Tyler and the Lost Sons of Littlefield is more of a standard style recording; a more polished recording - it has some really good songs I hope, but is perhaps not as "risky" as so far.

Grabado en casa.
So Far was recorded in a living room because that was a more comfortable place to play than in the studio downstairs.

Selección de versiones.
These are songs that we have been playing live a lot over the years. We just thought we would do a special record where we play our favourite songs - have some fun. I hope the fun we had playing is communicated to the listener - I think it does.

We are back with the band. We are so looking forward to playing again. We have lots of new songs to play, but we will play lots of the old favourites from the Hanky Panky albums too. We hope you can come along.
